Learn how to change to a different color while crocheting. This is a handy skill to know for any project with more than one color. I use it regularly for everything from blankets to clothing to dragons and other fanciful creatures. This can be a great way to add interest to a piece.
How to Color Change in Crochet
Below are the directions for a small sample project.
Begin by making 6sc in a magic ring.
Continue working in a spiral. Increase around 2sc in each stitch. Now you have a total of 12 stitches. On the last stitch of your first color: place your hook through the stitch below, yarn over, draw through the stitch. Now with the new color: yarn over and draw through both loops.
Continue crocheting with the new color until you get around to the first stitch. Slip stitch to the first stitch to line up the colors better. When you go back over this section skip the ss.
A color change can add more life to your piece.
