Homemade foaming hand soap made with liquid castile soap can have several benefits, especially if you add your favorite essential oils to it. Here are some of the benefits:
Gentle on skin: Castile soap is a mild and gentle cleanser that is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. It can clean your hands without stripping away natural oils or causing irritation.
Non-toxic: Liquid castile soap is made from natural, plant-based ingredients and is free of synthetic chemicals, such as sulfates, parabens, and phthalates. This makes it a safer and more eco-friendly option compared to commercial hand cleansers that may contain harsh chemicals.
Versatile: Liquid castile soap can be used in a variety of DIY cleaning products, including foaming hand cleansers, body wash, shampoo, and household cleaners.
Cost-effective: Making your own foaming hand cleanser using liquid castile soap can be a cost-effective option compared to buying commercial hand cleansers.
Customizable: You can customize your foaming hand cleanser by adding essential oils of your choice to provide additional benefits and create a pleasant scent.
Overall, using a homemade foaming hand cleanser made with liquid castile soap can be a gentle, non-toxic, versatile, cost-effective, and customizable option for keeping your hands clean and healthy.
Making foaming hand cleansers is a simple process that requires just a few ingredients. Here is a basic recipe that you can use to make your own foaming hand cleanser:
Ingredients to Make Foaming Hand Soap:
1/4 Cup Liquid Castile Soap (20%)
5 to 10 drops of Essential Oil of your choice – Lemon was my choice.
1 Cup Water (80%)
Foaming soap dispenser
If your soap dispenser holds more than 1 1/4 cups of fluid use a 20/80 ratio of soap to water.
I totally love these foaming hand soap tops that you can put on your mason jars. I don’t have one YET, but I’m totally ordering them. Click the image to get your own.
Instructions to Make Foaming Hand Soap:
Start by adding 1/4 cup of liquid castile soap to your foaming soap dispenser.
Add 5 to 10 drops of your favorite essential oil to the mixture. This is optional, but it can add a nice scent and also provide additional benefits depending on the essential oil you choose. Mix the essential oil into the soap really well before you add the water.
Fill the proper amount of water to match your soap ratio.
Screw the top onto the dispenser and give it a gentle shake to mix the ingredients together.
You are now ready to use your foaming hand cleanser.
Note: You can adjust the amount of soap and oil used depending on your personal preference. You can also experiment with different essential oils to create different scents. I use Lemon, Tea Tree, or Peppermint essential oils in my kitchen and bathroom cleaning mixtures.
